A Panel Discussion with Dr. Michelle Zetoony and Rabbi Danielle Upbin
Michelle Zetoony, DO, FCCP, FACOI; Board Certified Pulmonary, Sleep and Internal Medicine, Private practice and University Associate Professor NOVA/PCOM/USF, Podcast Cohost Sleep Takeout, Sleep Tampa Bay Organizer
Dr. Michelle Zetoony completed her undergraduate medical education at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She pursued Internal Medicine (FL) and the subspecialty in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (MI). Following completion of the fellowships she took special interest in sleep disorders and sleep medicine so she completed an additional Fellowship at University of Medicine and Dentistry in NJ. Once she completed training she moved with her family to FL to work in private practice. She has been in private practice since 2011 and now works entirely outpatient to optimize sleep and pulmonary conditions primarily but has a real focus in preventive care and prevention of disability and disease related to medical conditions.
One of the major problems with the current state of medicine is the compartmentalization of disease and body components rather than treatment of the patient as a whole. Dr Zetoony tries to incorporate more of a wellness approach to care. Dr. Zetoony speaks locally and nationally on the subjects related to sleep and wellness.
Rabbi Danielle Upbin has been the Associate Rabbi of Congregation Beth Shalom since 2005. She received her ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2002. Rabbi Upbin is a regular contributor and Community Educator for MyJewishLearning.com. She enjoys sharing her love of Judaism, song and spirituality with students of all ages. She is a certified yoga instructor and interweaves Jewish meditation, mysticism and yoga into her classes. Her musical releases of universal prayer are available wherever music is streamed. Rabbi Upbin resides in Clearwater, FL with her husband (and co-rabbi) Rabbi David Weizman, four children, and a menagerie of pets. You can follow her on social media Danielleupbin.com and @rabbi.dani
What is Rosh Chodesh? Rosh Chodesh – Hebrew for “head of the month” – is the monthly holiday that celebrates the arrival of the new moon, marking the start of a new month in the Jewish calendar. This is a special time for women to gather and celebrate. At Congregation Beth Shalom, Rosh Chodesh 2.0 holds space to gather in creativity, wellness, introspection, discussion, learning, and fun. Since the moon is a master of renewal, that inspires us: sometimes in our lives we surge, sometimes we shrink, but we know that each month, like the moon, we have a chance to find new strength and energy.
