Chris Penello is currently a second-year rabbinical student at the Jewish Theological Seminary in NYC and interns at Rutgers Hillel primarily serving the Conservative community. He is also working as a Campaign Captain for Mercaz for the upcoming World Zionist Congress elections. Prior to beginning rabbinical school, Chris spent a year studying at the Conservative Yeshiva in Jerusalem. While in Israel, he also spent much time at the pro-democracy protests and studying Roman Nusach at the Italian community’s synagogue on Rehov Hillel.Before pursuing a career as a Jewish professional, Chris completed his BA in Theology at Fordham University. The following year, he left his native NYC in order to spend a year as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in southern Italy. Upon returning to the US, Chris earned an MA in Hebrew Bible at Yale Divinity School. He now lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan where he is a regular at Darkei Noam and Noi Due Gelato.
